The Center for the New Age
Enlightenment is not contingent on where one is physically located; however, there are numerous places throughout the world that seem to provide a measure of ease in achieving this aim. Sedona, Arizona is one such location.
Individuals come to visit Sedona from all over the world because of its reputation as the center of the New Age in the United States. It doesn’t hurt this reputation that Sedona is surrounded by exquisite scenery; that the sky is most always a magnificent blue; and that the ambient temperature is conducive to outdoor activities year round. Hiking in the Red Rocks provides the opportunity to experience the Sedona vortexes. The energy of these vortex areas contributes to the New Age phenomenon.

Satsang
Satsang is a personal dialogue of a spiritual nature having the intent of providing a deeper understanding of the nature of life and all things experienced.
When anyone chances upon the advertisement for Satsang for the first time, they end up going to that gathering, knowing only that it is an event with spiritual overtones. Their decision to attend is due to a feeling of being inexplicably drawn to it, without really knowing what it is, what to expect, or what will take place.
The group experience may be guided by an enlightened person, self-realized person or by a book reading or a showing of videos of any one or different spiritual teachers or spiritual topics. Sometimes the event begins with a silent meditation in which the whole group participates, and other times the group event begins with music, singing of spiritual songs, or chanting mantras and sometimes even dance and laughter. There is always a period of discussion of spiritual or personal topics. Questions posed to the spiritual teacher and answers or comments may reflect common themes to which the entire group can relate or identify with.
People who come to Satsang may feel a desire to share, a need to explain unusual events or experiences in their lives - inner or outer experiences that may have felt mystical and unexplainable and so unusual that they seek feedback from another on what all of it might have been about, what exactly the experience was. The leader may then be able to offer insight into the nature of those experiences. Many times individuals feel a desire to share the simple frustrations of everyday living in the hopes of figuring it all out. The spiritual teacher more often than not, will direct the individual’s attention toward the here and now, the present moment and what might have caused the experience in question.
Other times the spiritual teacher may focus on that which lies behind all appearances, to that which really is the truth of the matter - the Absolute Reality that lies behind all of creation - to assuage the confused workings of the mind. In doing so, the leader will direct attention on what is more meaningful, on what truly matters beyond all the thinking and questions to a place of stillness and peace in one’s being that lies beyond ego – personality, thoughts, beliefs, motions, reactions etc. – directing attention to the purity and essence of simply being.
A spiritual teacher guiding these gatherings is usually someone who, having had profound breakthroughs in awareness and in consciousness him/herself, has found inner understanding of the true nature of things and exquisite peace, stillness, patience, love and compassion for all aspects of the life experience. From a place of deeper insight, she or he offers clarity to others and insight into those events that individuals face on the personal transformation so many of us seem to be experiencing in today’s world. In directing one’s attention toward a new way of viewing experiences, growth and development at both a personal and spiritual level, is achieved. Satsang provides the means to a better understanding of what is happening on the magical, mystical road to full enlightenment.
