Labradorite
Labradorite is an astonishing stone. It seems to be a modest, ordinary, dull, dark gray rock without any remarkable qualities and then, in handling a piece, one tilts it just the right way and suddenly it is aflame with the shimmering blue iridescence of a tropical butterfly wing or the sparkle of gold dust.
Named for the place of its original discovery, labradorite has given another standard term to mineralogy: labradorescence, the luminous blue-green, gold, or red sheen that appears on polished surfaces when they are turned at a crucial angle to the light. Gem quality labradorite showing a brilliant play of colors, has been found also in Finland and has been given the trade name “Spectrolite.”
Whether it is Spectrolite or labradorite, this iridescent mineral is a highly mystical and protective stone, a bringer of light. It raises consciousness and connects with the universal energies. It deflects unwanted energies from the aura and prevents energy leakage while forming a barrier to negative energies shed during therapy.
Psychologically, labradorite banishes fears and insecurities and the psychic debris from previous disappointments, including those experienced in past lives.
