So what is this New Age? It is a modern approach, philosophy if you will, to man’s connection to the higher realms and to our own planet Earth. New Age promotes the concept that particular individuals are endowed with psychic abilities. Inasmuch as Sedona may be considered the New Age capital of the Western World, many individuals with psychic propensities gravitate to Sedona. We have fifteen extraordinary psychics practicing their arts here at the Center for the New Age.
Many of our psychic readers also conduct Vortex tours to the energy centers in Sedona. There are a number of Vortexes in Sedona, and while our psychics will customize a vortex tour to the client’s specifications, they concentrate on the four main vortex locations that balance, enhance and strengthen the individual’s unique energy.
For the optimum experience in Sedona, either psychic or vortex wise, come visit the Center for the New Age. We are located on Highway 179 across from Tlaquepaque, in the heart of Sedona.

Foo Dogs...The Imperial Guards
They’re not Shar Peis and they’re not Pekingese. They aren’t furry, nor warm and friendly and as a matter of fact, they aren’t even dogs at all.
Actually, Foo Dogs are really lions, and with a little explanation, you’ll understand why the Imperial guardian lions that have traditionally stood in front of Chinese imperial palaces, temples, tombs, government offices and the homes of the wealthy to say nothing of their contemporary use at the entrances to restaurants, hotels and other structures have come to be known as Fo, or Foo Dogs.
The lion in Buddhism is seen as sacred; however, the lion is not indigenous to China. When Buddhist travelers brought stories about lions to China, Chinese sculptors modeled statues of lions after the travelers’ descriptions and after native dogs since no one in China had seen a lion with their own eyes. The Chinese word for Buddha is Fo which led to the title “Dog of Fo” or Fo Dog (Foo Dog). Thus the lion metamorphasized into a pooch with extraordinary powers.
Foo Dogs represent the yin and yang symbol with the female dog being yin and the male yang. This pair of symbols is a unity and should always be together in order to maintain balance in the environment. The male is seen with a ball under his paw that symbolizes ‘authority’; the female has a lion cub under her foot representing ‘protection.’ The male Foo Dog guards the structure; the female protects those dwelling inside.
The two guardians are meant to be placed at the front door of the building in order to keep an eye on who enters it. They have the ability to discover the intentions that those who come in have. When people with bad intentions enter a place with fu dogs at the door, they won’t be able to cause the intended damage.
The ideal place for fu dogs is either outside or inside main doors, but always facing the exterior and those who enter. The proper way to place Foo Dogs is with the male dog at the left and the female at the right looking outward. If you place fu dogs in the wrong order or the wrong place, they won’t be able to protect you as they should. Having the Foo Dogs in the middle of the room or facing inside won’t protect from people that may come in with bad intentions.
If they are placed by your house’s door, Foo Dogs will keep bad people from damaging you and your family; and if they are at your office’s door, this will ensure you that bad feelings such as jealousy or envy won’t be able to enter or affect your career. Whatever the nature of the space they are at, these doggies will always protect you from people with bad intentions and bad energy. And this is what the magic of Foo Dogs is all about.
