Psychic Vampires
They don’t leave fang marks on your neck or attack only in the dark. They don’t drain you to the point of death or have the ability to make you one of their kind. They’re vampires all right, but not the same as the made-up characters in Anne Rice novels. You know, the kind with fangs who prowl at night looking for victims because they must feed on human blood or die. There is another type of vampire that is neither magical nor mystical, nor supernatural. They are very real. They do not have horns; they do not have fangs; they most probably don’t even own capes, but they are vampires in every sense of the word, feeding off the “life force” of other living creatures, i.e. you and me!
The psychic vampire is alternately seen as a predator who attacks its victim or as a symbiotic partner who forms a mutually beneficial relationship with its donor. When the donor is unwilling, however, it becomes an attack situation, vampirism in every sense of the word. As consumers of energy rather than blood, vampires of the psychic kind exist in many guises, but with one common trait – their own inadequate energy system compels them to tap into and feed upon the energies of host victims. The immediate results of such a one-on-one vampire encounter are a temporary surge of energy for the psychic vampire and a serious loss of mental and physical energy for the unsuspecting prey.
Psychic vampires have various ways of sucking your energy. Negative comments are very efficient at draining the life right out of you. And dream snatching – ‘You can’t do that; you should do this; are you living in fantasyland?” are all very effective at bringing you down. Shrinking devices – “What’s wrong with you? You are bad” – are vampire tools that make you feel weak and small even if you are robust and tall.
Dr. Judith Orloff has identified several forms of psychic, or in her terminology, “energy vampires”:
The Sob Sister who always considers her/himself the victim. The world is always against them and they’ll recount every horrible thing that has happened, wallowing in every perceived slight and whining all the time.
The Charmer, a constant talker or joke-teller who has to be the center of attention ad nauseam.
The Blamer who cuts you down with criticism doling out endless servings of guilt.
The Drama Queen who lives in extremes of emotion with life being unbelievably good or horrifically bad and wearing you out while blabbing on and on and on.
Although the human energy system is indestructible, its capacity to generate the energy required for daily living can become severely impaired. Therefore, it is mandatory that we protect ourselves from on-going psychic attack. Relationships are always an energy exchange. To stay feeling our best, we must determine who gives us energy and who saps it. It is important to be surrounded by supportive, heart-centered people who make us feel safe and secure. It is equally important to pinpoint the energy vampires, who, whether they intend to or not, leech our energy.

Whoever they are, whatever they do, these people suck you dry. Is there a tightening in your chest when a certain person enters the conversation? Do you feel tired when you hang up the phone after speaking with someone? Does your head ache when you are in the presence of a particular someone? Take an inventory of people in your life who give energy and people who drain. Spend time with the former and delete the latter from your life.

If it is impossible to avoid drainers, at least set clear boundaries. It is crucial to limit the time you spend discussing a vampire’s gripes. It you feel your energy being zapped, don’t hesitate to excuse yourself from a killing conversation. If none of these is possible, build an energy shield around you. When you’re with vampires you can’t get away from, visualize a protective shield of white light surrounding every inch of you. This lets positive energy in, but keeps negative energy out – particularly efficient for vampires at family dinners or social events where you’re trapped!!!
There are a couple of techniques to repair damage to the energy system resulting from long-term or too frequent vampire assaults. One of the most effective protection procedures is the “Finger Interlock Technique.” Bring together the tips of your thumb and middle finger of each hand to form two circles. Then, bring your hands together to form interlocking circles while envisioning your body enveloped in a bright sphere of impenetrable energy. Finally, relax your hands and simply affirm, “I am now energized and fully protected.”
That old and trusted stand-by, the quartz crystal, is unsurpassed in its capacity to protect against psychic vampirism. Once the crystal is appropriately programmed and then kept in close proximity to the physical body, the protective shield remains in place to provide constant protection. First you must select a crystal from an assortment. State your intention - protection from psychic vampirism - and then slowly pass your hand, palm side down, across the available crystals. Select the crystal that seems to stand out from the others, and while holding it, note your interaction with it. If it feels ‘right,’ then that is the crystal that is ideal for this procedure.
Once you’ve selected a crystal, deprogram it by briefly holding it under cool running water and then letting it air dry. To install the new program, simply hold the crystal in your hand and while gently stroking it, invite it in your own words to be your empowerment partner by working with you to neutralize and defeat psychic vampirism whatever its form.
