Monday brings us the First Quarter Moon in Taurus and the pressure to take care of essential needs.  Taurus is the fixed earth sign, and the nature of Taurus Moon leads many folks to watch their pocketbook, and make sure they’re getting the most value possible out of all expenditures.  There is also a need to let the beauty of our surroundings be accented and appreciated.  Somewhere in between the processes of earning and reaping rewards, a happy medium is struck.  The Moon is exalted in the place of Taurus, and positive harmony brings satisfaction.

Venus in Pisces is opposing the retrograde Mars in Virgo this week.  The opposition of these planets can attract and repel at the same time, and there is a constant need to give and take with the act of compromise.  If you are among those somehow caught up in this battle of the sexes, it is important to realize that losses can occur around attempts at moderation just as easily as with extremes.  Venus in Pisces creates an intuitive, highly sensitive and deeply emotional expression of love and attractions.  Mars in Virgo brings out a discriminating, fastidious, and sometimes critical form of masculine energy.  This situation may very well bring a particularly challenging time for loved ones to agree with each other so by all means, go easy on each other!

Thursday’s Moon in Gemini brings a curiosity to our moods, with lively conversation and interaction.  This is Candlemas, a celebration of the return of the light.  Out of the darkness and into the light – this represents a time of blossoming knowledge and a time to acknowledge one’s own growth.  Thursday is also Groundhog Day, when the absence or presence of the groundhog’s shadow predicts the course of the final half of the winter season.

Cancer Moon on Saturday brings out deep feelings of compassion, desire or perhaps loneliness and may lead some people to seek motherly advice or attention.  Many will feel that the need for care and nurturing is essential.  The Moon rules Cancer, and when it’s in its home sign, it rarely fails to bring out a particularly moody quality or interaction among people.  Some feelings are difficult to hide; patience and understanding will help.  Cancer Moon is no time to obsessively worry.  The act of worry serves no purpose and if not properly thwarted, it can sometimes act like a self-fulfilling prophecy to make things go wrong.  Fight worry with confidence and positive thoughts.

Aries

It is often said that a change is as good as a rest, but so too is doing what you enjoy.  So if you’re feeling drained or run down, perhaps it’s because life has been too much of the boring stuff and not enough fun.  The Sun and Mercury in your social zone encourage you to get out and connect with people more.  Of course it is important to get things done – and it certainly looks as though there’s plenty to get done – but for a happy life, we also need to balance work and responsibility with fun, rest and recreation.  Take some time for yourself.  Your enthusiastic spirit will soon return.

Taurus

The purpose of Mars retrograding through your house of fun is to get you to see whether you’re actually enjoying your life.  Taurus was never meant to spend all of its time working, and yet frequently Tauruses are workaholics.  Often this is because of a need for money and security, but a healthy Taurean knows that he will always have enough of everything without having to strive.  If you have deviated from the gift of being able to take time to smell the roses, then you need to pause for thought and make some changes that will give you more space and time to do what brings you joy.

Gemini

One of the wonderful things about life is that every day offers new possibilities.   Sometimes it is difficult to be aware of this; perhaps when we’re going through a difficult time or when our thinking is a bit low, it’s easy to miss the potential that surrounds us.  This week, however, is a time when you should become very aware of the fact that you do have possibilities and that maybe even a new vision is beginning to unfold before you.  On February 3 Neptune moves into your house of career and direction, encouraging you to follow your dreams and make inspiration the quality to focus on.

Cancer

Make time this week to care for your physical needs, especially if you’ve been feeling under stress recently.  Remember that anger can have a detrimental effect on the immune system and many other bodily functions, so if you can’t find a way to vent your feelings, try tuning into your inner self to find the course of your anger.  It may be that other persons are simply acting as a trigger for something buried within you.  Meditating on peace or taking the Bach flower essence of holly will help to restore inner harmony.

Leo

You may find much of your attention taken up with relationship matters, and this is certainly a suitable point at which to focus more of your energy on an important relationship, but that shouldn’t negate your own need for attention.  You need to look to the future and let go of what’s gone.  Once you’ve done this, your relationships will improve and you’ll be able to start afresh – if that’s what you want.  Your challenge this week is to create a nice balancing act between the needs of others and time for yourself.

Virgo

Try to remember this week that sometimes we think we have problems but actually it’s our thinking that’s the problem – often because we’re approaching a difficulty from the wrong angle or because our thinking is stuck or limited.  Try not to take matters too seriously this week.  Instead try using humor to completely change a situation for the better.  If you ask yourself whether you’ll still be worrying about this issue in six month’s  time, you’ll probably find that the answer is no, so relax, take time out and remember to laugh.

Aquarius

If you are harboring any guilt from what you consider to be past mistakes, now is the time to let it go and forgive yourself.  In the long run, this will enable you to have healthier, happier relationships.  Whatever your personal situation, it looks as if you need to do some talking, and through communication the answers will come.  With Venus connecting with your ruler Uranus, soon you will experience some sort of breakthrough or awakening, so don’t be afraid to delve into your psyche.  A bit of self analysis will point the way forward.

Pisces

Neptune’s entry into Pisces on Friday marks the beginning of a fourteen-year soulful journey for you.  Since Neptune is your ruling planet, you could say that the god of the ocean is coming home and this should be worth a celebration of some sort.  As a Pisces, you’re a naturally compassionate and spiritually orientated person, so it’s not as though you have a lot of work to do on this front, but it would still be nice if you could honor Neptune’s arrival.  Perhaps you could create an altar devoted to your spiritual beliefs or make a collage that depicts all that you love about Pisces and Neptune.  Since Neptune will be conjunct with Chiron, this could be the beginning of a healing journey for you, and perhaps part of that healing would be to create a more abundant life which you can certainly do if you make the effort.
